What Is DevilConnection?
DevilConnection is a visual novel/adventure game developed by the Japanese indie circle ChaoGames. Set in the magical world of Magirisia, you play as a lonely summoner who accidentally calls forth a small demon named Debirun.
Right from the start, she’s bratty, defiant, and thoroughly insufferable — loud-mouthed, claiming to be a great demon, yet clearly weak and adorable in reality. Debirun tells you she’s lost most of her power and needs your help summoning other mages. By talking to them and draining their “emotional energy,” she can regain her strength — and once she’s powerful enough, she’ll grant you any wish.
You agree. Because, honestly, you’re curious too — where exactly will this bratty little demon take you?
How the Gameplay Works
The gameplay is straightforward: use a crystal ball to choose who to summon, then enter a conversation.
The summoning process is divided into three stages, with two choices at each step. Your goal is simple: provoke an emotional reaction from the person you’ve summoned, allowing Debirun to absorb their energy. Sounds like you’re doing something bad? That’s exactly the point — this is a game about “doing wicked things together with a demon.”
You don’t have to guess blindly, though. Debirun has a special ability — “Evil Eye Search” — that lets you peek into the other person’s mind. You can see what they’re actually thinking, which helps you pick the most “effective” responses. Of course, it’s all part of the game’s comedic routine — you never know where those mind readings will lead you.
Often, you’ll pick what seems like the obvious right answer, only to hear Debirun cheerfully announce: “Well, that’s it. We’re doomed.”
30 Endings: Choose Wrong and It’s Over
The game features 30 different endings. What makes it fun is that you can stumble into an ending at almost any moment just by picking the “wrong” choice.
Take the very beginning, for example. If you refuse to form a contract with Debirun — congratulations, you’ve just beaten the game in under a minute. That’s ending #1: “Speedrun of Defeat.”
But this isn’t punishment — it’s part of the fun. Save-scumming is practically a mechanic here. Experiment with every option, chase down every possibility, and find your way to the true ending. Many endings even come with epilogue skits, adding extra charm to your failures.
“You know it’s the wrong choice, but you just have to see what happens” — that curiosity is what drives the entire experience.
Why Players Can’t Put It Down
The real star of the show is Debirun herself.
This self-proclaimed great demon is the heart and soul of the game. You’ll see her acting tough one moment, then completely embarrassed when a more powerful mage turns the tables on her. You’ll see her panicked and adorable side. On certain routes, you might even turn her into a plush toy. In a sense, you’re not just playing the game — you’re constantly messing with this little demon.
The presentation also stands out. Characters are fully animated with lively, expressive faces. Click or tap different parts of a character and you’ll get various reactions. This level of immersion — feeling like the character is right in front of you — is something static visual novels rarely achieve.
The music blends cute and dark gothic tones. The character designs have a distinct kemono flair, and the dialogue balances risqué humor with an all-ages sensibility. This mix of “doing bad things yet somehow hilarious” is exactly what makes ChaoGames’ works so distinctive.
Steam Users Consistently Praise Its Witty Dialogue and Expressive Animations
